The coffee cup completes this porcelain set, where the white allows the patterns to breathe. This breakfast set is our tribute to the iconic "Kanta and Kounta" fabric.

▤ The history of the pattern

In Niger, these narrow bands, woven and sewn edge to edge, bear notches and checkerboards that tell the story of great ceremonies.

Kanta (Niger, Djerma): a pattern intended for the newlywed during wedding ceremonies.

Kounta (Niger, Hausa): a different pattern, used as a rug or wall covering.

✨ What the pattern tells

The major stages of life, and marriage above all, give the pattern its symbolic meaning. It is part of the ceremonies that mark these transitions. It is particularly suitable for a wedding.

Our reinterpretation

On this piece, the pattern leaves the woven band to become a ring of royal blue and sky blue stripes, punctuated by black and white diamonds on the round plate and saucer. The mug features a checkerboard of woven blue and brown bands, echoing the seams of the fabric. Each piece is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop: the pattern is prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. The set brings together the plate, the coffee cup with saucer and the mug.

At your table

On a light linen tablecloth, in the morning light, the set takes its place for a breakfast for two or with the family. For a wedding or a life milestone to celebrate, it becomes a gift idea linked to the bonds you wish to honor.

Features

Contents: 1 round dessert plate, 1 coffee cup with saucer, 1 mug (pattern on the outside).

Colors: royal blue, sky blue, brown, black, white.

Material: porcelain.

Dessert plate: Ø 21 cm, height 2.5 cm.

Coffee cup: 9 cl, saucer Ø 12 cm.

Mug: Ø 8 cm, height 9.1 cm, 30 cl.

Set: approximately 3 kg.

Personalization: colors, addition of a first name, a date or a short message upon request.

In case of breakage: individual replacement possible, same pattern and same dimensions, as long as the shape remains in the catalog.

In the same pattern: mug, set of 6 square plates, square salad bowl.

For a date, a first name or a color that celebrates a life milestone, write to us: we will prepare your piece in the Kanta and Kounta pattern.

The decoration is applied and fixed by firing using the same process as our plates, used every day by families for over two years and put through the dishwasher and microwave daily, with no visible wear on the decoration observed to date.

📏 The dimensions of our round plates

🎁 As a gift: the prestige set

For a wedding, a birthday or a gift that will make an impression, your set can be presented in our prestige set: a deep green rigid box with a magnetic closure, gold KEMI HOME ART logo, yellow interior and foam padding that holds each piece. Optional, upon request: €10 surcharge. Simply specify it in your order or write to us.

Product information – Manufacturer: KEMI HOME ART SAS, 9 rue Pierre Leroux, 94140 Alfortville, France – edo@kemiha.fr.
