Textured bowl, Senufo pattern

Inside the bowl, aubergine and black bands, striated with small white lines, run along the rim; a medallion sits at the bottom, crossed by rare touches of yellow and red. The whole evokes a woven cloth with narrow bands. On the outside, the granulated surface offers a textured feel under the fingers. It is our tribute to Senufo art.

Senufo art is linked to agricultural and initiatory rites. The powerful geometric shapes that characterize it bear its trace. On this bowl, the pattern retains this sobriety: bands, a medallion, a few lines.

Our reinterpretation

We take the Senufo geometric repertoire as a band on the inner rim and as a medallion at the bottom, with the colors of this piece: dominant aubergine and black, striated with white, and rare touches of yellow and red. The granulated exterior leaves all the decoration on the inside. This bowl is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville: pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing.
