Speckled bowl, Electric Bulb wax print, royal blue and midnight blue, lion

Light, modernity, the arrival of electricity in homes.

Inside the bowl, a lion whose mane and body are composed of royal blue and yellow wax patterns; on the inner rim, blue and yellow rays. The pebbled exterior offers a textured finish, while the palette combines royal blue, navy blue, yellow, and white. This bowl is our tribute to the iconic "Ampoules" fabric, a reinterpretation we have named "Electric Bulb" ("Electric bulbs", the light bulbs, is the English name of this pagne in Nigeria).

💡 One pattern, a thousand names

The same pattern goes by several names depending on the country and language. In the world of wax, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give them their names.

• Electric bulbs (Nigeria, English): electric light bulbs.
• Ampoules (Benin)

✨ What the pattern tells

The symbolism of the pattern combines light, modernity, and the arrival of electricity in homes. It speaks of the light that enters the home and the modernity that accompanies it. Through its symbolism, this pattern is perfect for accompanying a moment in life focused on light.

Our reinterpretation

On this bowl, the pattern is displayed on the inside: the lion occupies the bottom, while the blue and yellow rays spread across the rim. The palette combines royal blue, navy blue, yellow, and white, with a pebbled exterior featuring a textured finish. Our silhouette concept consists of embedding any wax fabric from the catalog into the shadow of an animal: here, the lion becomes a figurative landmark, at the heart of a setting that retains all its atmosphere. This bowl is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing.

At your table

On a light linen tablecloth, in the morning light, this bowl finds its place in a shared breakfast or an intimate dinner. As a gift, it evokes the light and modernity of a home that is illuminated.
