Set of 4 coffee cups, Wax Silhouettes pattern

Each animal tells someone's story.

Four coffee cups line up with their saucers: an ochre antelope, a striped gorilla, a pair of blue lovebirds, and a cheetah, each treated like a wax fabric dress. The saucers feature green and yellow circles or blue flowers. Created by the KEMI HOME ART workshop, this set illustrates our concept: bringing silhouettes into tableware.

🦒 The silhouette concept

Our silhouette concept: any wax fabric from the catalog can be inlaid into the shadow of an animal. The border pattern retains its mood, while the silhouette adds a figurative touch: a child's favorite animal, an astrological sign, or a different animal for each family member. On this set, an antelope, a gorilla, a pair of lovebirds, and a cheetah each take on the dress of a different wax fabric. In the world of wax, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give their names to the patterns.

✨ What the pattern tells

Each animal tells someone's story: a child's favorite animal, an astrological sign, or an animal for each family member. The tableware remains harmonious thanks to the wax fabric, while giving everyone their own cup. To give to a child, a person connected to their astrological sign, or to each member of a family who wants to recognize their cup.

Our reinterpretation

On these cups, the ochre antelope, the striped gorilla, the pair of blue lovebirds, and the cheetah become silhouettes inlaid in different wax fabrics; the saucers take on green and yellow circles or blue flowers. The border pattern retains its mood, and the animal adds a figurative touch. The cups and their saucers are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing.

At your table

At coffee time, a soft light on a linen tablecloth highlights the ochre, green, yellow, and blue of the cups, while the guests recognize their animal. As a gift, the set can bring together several family members, each with their animal or astrological sign, for a table that remains harmonious thanks to the wax.
