On this square plate, a column of fine black zigzags runs through the center, framed by two rows of hourglass crosses. Black and white create a clean, graphic design. We pay tribute to the iconic "Bogolan" fabric.

🫫 The history of the pattern

Bogolan is a traditional Malian cotton fabric dyed with fermented mud, whose geometric signs tell ancestral stories. Each region has its own style, from the Dogon country to Ségou.

✨ What the pattern tells

Bogolan has become a symbol of Malian cultural identity. Tradition says that it protects by absorbing the dangerous forces released during childbirth. It can thus be given as a gift to accompany a birth, echoing this tradition.

Our interpretation

On the porcelain, the column of black zigzags remains in the center, bordered by the two rows of hourglass crosses; black and white compose this graphic design. Each plate is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. The packaging box accompanies the set.

At your table

On a dark linen tablecloth, in the soft evening light, the black and white of the pattern create a graphic and warm table setting for your guests. As a gift, the box can mark a birth, echoing the tradition surrounding Bogolan.
