Set of 6 square plates, Ìbùkúnolúwa pattern – The Blessing

In Yoruba, “Ìbùkúnolúwa” means “the blessings of God.”

On each square plate, a wide black-and-olive-green lattice border stands out against a lemon-yellow background punctuated by black diamonds pierced with dots; the center remains white. On the deep plate, the lattice covers the entire surface. This piece is our tribute to the iconic “Blessing of God” fabric, a reinterpretation we have named “Ìbùkúnolúwa” (“Ìbùkúnolúwa” means “the blessings of God” in Yoruba (Nigeria)).

🔆 The story of the pattern

The name of the pattern carries a wish found in the Yoruba language.

• Blessing of God (Nigeria, Yoruba): in Yoruba, “Ìbùkúnolúwa” means “the blessings of God,” from ìbùkún (blessings) and olúwa (God).

✨ What the pattern tells

The symbolism of the pattern is a simple wish: a blessing for the table and those who gather around it. To give it is to pass on this wish to loved ones gathered around a meal.

Our reinterpretation

The fabric’s lattice becomes a wide border around the plates, with its black and olive-green lines on a lemon-yellow background, its black diamonds punctuated with dots, and its white center. On the deep plate, the same lattice extends across the bottom. Each piece is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop: the pattern is prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing. The packaging box accompanies the set.

At your table

At your table, the lemon yellow and olive green bring a light tablecloth to life under soft light, for a lunch or dinner where guests pass plates around. As a gift, this box carries a wish of blessing for the table of those you love.
