Set of 6 oval plates, Baoulé pattern

Harmony and attention to detail guide Baoulé art.

An aubergine and saffron yellow band, punctuated by white geometric signs, runs along the oval edge; at the bottom of the deep plates, an elephant whose silhouette is itself filled with the pattern. This set of six oval plates is our tribute to the iconic "Baoulé" art.

🐘 The history of the pattern

• Baoulé (Côte d'Ivoire): a people whose art seeks harmony and attention to detail

✨ What the pattern tells

This pattern carries harmony and refinement. The elephant, emblem of Côte d'Ivoire, adds strength and wisdom to it.

Our reinterpretation

On this piece, the pattern unfolds in an aubergine and saffron yellow band on the oval edge, with white geometric signs; at the bottom of the deep plates, the elephant is filled with the pattern. Our silhouette concept allows us to embed a wax fabric from the catalog in the shadow of an animal: here the elephant, with a border that keeps its ambiance and a figurative silhouette. A child's favorite animal, a zodiac sign or a different animal for each family member can thus find its place. The plates are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville: pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. The packaging box measures 31 × 31 × 10 cm.
