Set of 6 round plates, Adire pattern – Indigo, indigo color

Set of 6 round plates, Adire pattern – Indigo, indigo color

The deep blue of indigo, a color of prestige.

A wide indigo-blue band crosses each plate diagonally, dotted with small irregular white spots, while the rest of the porcelain remains white. The shades of midnight blue, indigo, and white give the table a graphic and soft presence. This piece is our tribute to the iconic "Indigo" fabric, a reinterpretation we have named "Adire": in Yoruba (Nigeria), "Adire" means "tie and dye", the name of fabrics dyed in indigo using a resist method.

💙 The history of the pattern

In Abeokuta, Nigeria, Yoruba women have made adire an art: the fabric is tied, folded, or protected with cassava paste, then dipped in indigo, and white suns appear where the dye did not take.

  • Adire (Nigeria, Yoruba): "tie and dye" in Yoruba (Nigeria): fabrics dyed in indigo, whose patterns arise from the tied or protected parts.

✨ What the pattern tells

The deep blue of indigo is a color of prestige. It also evokes a know-how passed down from mother to daughter. Through this symbolism, it accompanies a gift that evokes family transmission and the continuity of a gesture.

Our reinterpretation

On the round plate, the wide diagonal band recreates the movement of a tied and dyed fabric: the irregular white spots stand out against the indigo blue and midnight blue, then the white of the porcelain lets the decoration breathe. Each plate is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. It is presented in a packaging box.

At your table

In the soft light of morning or dinner, the indigo band stands out against a light tablecloth or a raw wood table, surrounded by loved ones. As a gift, the pattern evokes family transmission and the prestige of a deep blue.
