On each round plate, a wide band runs around the rim: chocolate brown, caramel and cream respond in loops and irregular stripes, like a living fabric, while the center remains white. This set of 6 round plates is our tribute to the iconic "Dida" fabric.

〰️ The history of the pattern

In southern Côte d’Ivoire, Dida weavers weave raffia fibers into a fabric as fine as linen, then knot and dye it. These prestigious pieces were worn during ceremonies, and dancers brandished them with elegance.

The Dida pattern evokes prestigious fabrics, reserved for special occasions. This symbolism accompanies special occasions at the table, when the tableware contributes to the atmosphere. It also guides the choice of a gift for a special occasion.

Our interpretation

On these plates, the pattern unfolds in a wide band around the rim, with a white center that lets the composition breathe. The chocolate brown, caramel and cream shades recreate the woven and dyed raffia fibers, in loops and irregular stripes. The plates are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. The packaging box measures 31 × 31 × 10 cm.

In the soft light of a dinner, on a natural linen tablecloth, the chocolate brown, caramel and cream shades respond to the glasses and cutlery. As a gift, the Dida pattern finds its place for a special occasion, in tribute to the prestigious fabrics described above.
