Set of 6 round plates, Kpévi wax print – les Petits Macaronis

A fabric given as part of a dowry, symbolizing understanding and harmony in the home.

On these six round plates, a saffron-yellow ring crossed by black swirls frames a white center, like coiled macaroni or arabesques. We pay tribute to the iconic "Petits macaronis" fabric with our reinterpretation named "Kpévi". "Macaronis kpévi" means "little macaroni" in Fon (Benin).

✨ One pattern, a thousand names

The same pattern can go by several names depending on the country. In the world of wax fabric, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give the patterns their names.

• Macaronis kpévi (Benin, Fon): little macaroni.
• Conseiller (Ivory Coast): a name associated with a fabric given as part of a dowry as a symbol of understanding.

✨ What the pattern tells

In the symbolism associated with it, this very popular fabric is given as part of a dowry. It evokes understanding and harmony in the home.

Our reinterpretation

On these round plates, the saffron-yellow ring crossed by black swirls unfolds along the rim and frames a white center. The six plates are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing. The whole is presented in a 31 × 31 × 10 cm packaging box.

At your table

In the soft light at the end of the day, on a natural linen tablecloth, the black swirls and saffron yellow bring rhythm to a table bringing together family and friends. For a dowry, giving this box means wishing understanding and harmony in the home.
