Set of 6 coffee cups, Works of Benin motif

The memory of the kingdoms of Benin and their sacred arts.

Six coffee cups and their saucers make up this set. On each cup, a different artwork: masks, carved doors, statues and appliqué hangings, drawn in sepia brown, red, black, yellow, green and white; each saucer is bordered with a matching frieze. It is our tribute to the iconic art "Works of Benin".

👑 The history of the motif

In Abomey, appliqué hangings told the stories of the kings, their exploits and their emblems, like the bas-reliefs of the palaces. Statues, carved seats and cult objects bear witness to a royal and spiritual heritage.

✨ What the motif tells

The memory of the kingdoms of Benin and their sacred arts runs through this motif. To offer it is to keep this memory alive. This choice is intended for those who wish to honor this heritage with respect.

Our reinterpretation

The motif moves from art to the table through a different artwork on each cup, while the saucers receive a matching frieze. The colors sepia brown, red, black, yellow, green and white give the design its character. The cups are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the motif prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing.

At your table

Imagine a soft light, a linen tablecloth and a coffee shared in the morning, among loved ones. As a gift, this set connects the memory of the kingdoms of Benin and their sacred arts to a gesture offered with respect.
