🌺 One pattern, a thousand names

Designed in the late 1970s, this bouquet of finely veined hibiscus petals became one of the most popular wax fabrics, and one of the most copied. In the world of wax fabric, market women and those who wear the fabrics give the patterns their names.

• Fleurs de Mariage (French-speaking West Africa): the fabric given to newlyweds.
• Hibiscus (West Africa, in French): a similar pattern worn by the bride's single friends to humorously indicate that they are also looking for a suitor.

✨ What the pattern tells

Fleurs de Mariage evokes the happiness of the couple and the promise of a happy home. It is a festive fabric, given and worn around a wedding to accompany a day of celebration.

Our reinterpretation

On porcelain, two interpretations of the bouquet complement each other: a floral border on the large plates, the pattern covering the entire surface of the dessert plates. The colors are sky blue, lavender blue, orange, sun-yellow, and white. The pieces are decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing. The collection is presented in two 31 × 31 × 10 cm boxes.
