Set of 12 square plates, Wedding Flowers wax print design, orange and sunshine yellow colors

In West Africa, this floral fabric is given to newlyweds: it symbolizes happiness.

Twelve square porcelain plates, where orange, sunshine yellow and rust echo each other on a white background. The six large plates feature a floral border; placed on top, the six dessert plates are completely covered by it, like a fabric unfolded on the table. Our tribute to the iconic "Fleurs de Mariage" fabric.

🌺 One pattern, a thousand names

Designed in the late 1970s, this bouquet of hibiscus with finely veined petals became one of the most beloved, and most copied, wax fabrics. In the world of wax, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give their names to the patterns.

• Fleurs de Mariage (French-speaking West Africa): the fabric given to newlyweds.
• Hibiscus (West Africa): a neighboring pattern, worn by the bride's single friends, who humorously display on it that they are also looking for a suitor.

✨ What the pattern tells

The pattern speaks of the couple's happiness and the promise of a happy home. It is a festive fabric, given and worn around a wedding. Giving these plates extends this gesture.

Our reinterpretation

The fabric design becomes a combined decor: floral border on the large plates, full pattern on the dessert plates. Orange, sunshine yellow and rust warm up the flowers, brown marks the foliage, white lets the whole breathe. Each set is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville: pattern prepared, placed and glazed by hand before firing, then presented in 2 boxes of 31 × 31 × 10 cm.

At your table

Late afternoon light, a light linen tablecloth, the orange squares echoing from one place setting to another. A gift for two people who are getting married or settling down, echoing the fabric given to newlyweds.
