Set of 12 square plates, Wedding Flowers wax print, raspberry red and pink colors

In West Africa, this floral fabric is given to newlyweds: it symbolizes happiness.

Raspberry red, sunshine yellow, and soft green flowers stand out against a pink background. The large square plates feature them in a floral border; the dessert plates feature the full pattern. This set of 12 square plates is our tribute to the "Fleurs de Mariage" fabric.

🌺 One pattern, a thousand names

Designed in the late 1970s, this bouquet of striped-petal hibiscus flowers became one of the most popular and copied wax fabrics. In the world of wax fabric, market women and those who wear the fabrics give the patterns their names.

• Fleurs de Mariage (French-speaking West Africa): the fabric given to newlyweds.
• Hibiscus (West Africa): a similar pattern worn by the bride's single friends, who humorously show that they are also looking for a suitor.

✨ What the pattern tells

Fleurs de Mariage evokes the happiness of the couple and the promise of a happy home. This festive fabric, given and worn around a wedding, accompanies the wishes addressed to the newlyweds.

Our reinterpretation

On our plates, the bouquet unfolds in a floral border on the large square pieces and as a full pattern on the dessert plates. Raspberry red and pink dominate, with sunshine yellow, green, and white. Each set is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville: pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing. It is presented in 2 boxes.

At your table

Imagine a festive table, a pink tablecloth or light linen, when the guests sit down and the square plates create a garden around everyone. For a wedding or to wish a happy home, the set is given as a message of happiness.
