White suns born from the resist, on a deep blue.
Beneath the white textured exterior, the inside of the mug is covered with small white suns and rosettes on an indigo blue background. This mug is our tribute to the iconic "Indigo" fabric, a reinterpretation we have named "Adire" ("Adire" means "tie and dye" in Yoruba (Nigeria): it is the name of fabrics dyed in indigo using a resist technique).
💙 The story of the pattern
In Abeokuta, Nigeria, Yoruba women have made adire an art: the fabric is tied, folded, or protected with cassava paste, then dipped in indigo, and white suns appear where the dye has not taken.

The deep blue of indigo is a color of prestige. The pattern also evokes a know-how passed down from mother to daughter.
Our reinterpretation
On the outside, the textured white reveals a raised texture; on the inside, the small white suns and rosettes unfold on an indigo blue background. Each mug is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing.

In the soft morning light, on a light linen tablecloth, the indigo blue of the mug complements the whites of the table and accompanies a quiet moment, for two or with the family. As a gift, offer it as a gesture of transmission, echoing the mother-to-daughter know-how evoked by the pattern.

The decoration is applied and fixed by firing using the same process as our plates, which have been used daily by families for over two years and put through the dishwasher and microwave every day, with no visible wear on the decoration observed to date.
