🔷 The history of the pattern

Ndop is a royal fabric of the Bamiléké and Bamoun peoples of Western Cameroon, dyed indigo blue using a resist technique and traditionally reserved for chiefdom ceremonies.

Ndop evokes the prestige of the chiefdoms and the solemnity of grand ceremonies. It carries a ceremonial presence that we wish to offer with respect, without trivializing it. Through it, a moment at the table can retain the memory of a fabric steeped in history.

Our reinterpretation

On this mug, the indigo blue and white geometric pattern lines the interior, while the white pebbled exterior retains a raised texture. The design reveals itself when looking inside the piece, like an echo of the ceremonial fabric. Each mug is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing.
