In West Africa, this floral fabric is given to newlyweds: it symbolizes happiness.

Beneath a white textured exterior, whose raised texture can be felt by hand, the inside of the mug opens up to large sun-yellow and orange flowers with radiant teal petals. The palette also brings together sky blue, in a dialogue of bright colors on a light background. This mug is our tribute to the iconic "Fleurs de Mariage" fabric.

🌺 One pattern, a thousand names

Designed in the late 1970s, this bouquet of hibiscus flowers with finely veined petals became one of the most beloved, and most copied, wax fabrics. In the world of wax fabric, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give their names to the patterns.

• Fleurs de Mariage (French-speaking West Africa): the fabric given to newlyweds.
• Hibiscus (French-speaking West Africa): a similar pattern, worn by the bride's single friends, who humorously display that they are also looking for a suitor.

✨ What the pattern tells

The pattern tells the story of the couple's happiness and the promise of a happy home. It is a festive fabric, given as a gift and worn around a wedding. It is given to newlyweds to accompany this festive occasion.

Our reinterpretation

On this mug, the bouquet no longer unfolds on the fabric but on the inside, while the textured exterior remains white. The palette combines the sun-yellow and orange of the flowers with the teal of their petals, along with sky blue and white. Each mug is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, with the pattern prepared, applied and glazed by hand before firing.
