Ndop is a royal fabric of the Bamileke and Bamoun peoples of western Cameroon, resist-dyed in indigo blue and traditionally reserved for traditional chiefdom ceremonies.

Our reinterpretation
Ndop becomes a wide band around the mug: white diamonds, triangles, wheels, and broken lines stand out against the indigo blue, like a resist-dyed cloth. The white porcelain remains visible at the opening and beneath the design. Each mug is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing.

The design is applied and fixed by firing using the same process as our plates, which have been used daily by families for over two years and put through the dishwasher and microwave every day, with no visible wear to the design observed to date.
