Oval bowl, Senufo motif

An art linked to agricultural and initiatory rites.

At the bottom of the oval salad bowl, a large elephant stands out against the white porcelain. Its body is cut into facets of eggplant and black weaving, striated with white. This piece is our tribute to the emblematic "Sénoufo" art.

▦ The history of the motif

Sénoufo art, from Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and Burkina Faso, is known for its powerful geometric shapes, linked to agricultural and initiatory rites.

• Sénoufo (Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso): a people renowned for their masks, statues, and textiles.

✨ What the motif tells

The Sénoufo motif is linked to agricultural and initiatory rites. This symbolism accompanies the piece and allows us to evoke this art in a gift attentive to its history.

Our reinterpretation

Our silhouette concept allows us to embed a wax fabric from the catalog in the shadow of an animal. Here, the elephant at the bottom of the salad bowl is drawn in facets of eggplant and black weaving, striated with white, on the white porcelain. This salad bowl is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, motif prepared, placed and glazed by hand before firing.

At your table

At your table, a soft light and a matte tablecloth will bring out the eggplant and black of the salad bowl over the course of a shared meal. Designed to evoke Sénoufo art and its agricultural and initiatory rites, it is intended for someone sensitive to this history.
