Oval salad bowl, Wedding Flowers wax print

In West Africa, this floral fabric is given to newlyweds: it symbolizes happiness.

On the white background of the salad bowl, large sun-yellow and orange flowers with radiant royal blue petals spiral along the inner rim; the palette also includes navy blue. This oval piece is our tribute to the iconic "Fleurs de Mariage" fabric.

🌺 One pattern, a thousand names

Designed in the late 1970s, this bouquet of finely veined hibiscus petals became one of the most beloved, and most copied, wax fabrics. In the world of wax, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give the patterns their names.

• Fleurs de Mariage (French-speaking West Africa): the fabric given to newlyweds.
• Hibiscus (West Africa, in French): a similar pattern, worn by the bride's single friends, who humorously show that they are also looking for a suitor.

✨ What the pattern tells

Fleurs de Mariage evokes the happiness of the couple and the promise of a happy home. It is a festive fabric, given as a gift and worn around a wedding.

Our reinterpretation

The hibiscus bouquet leaves the fabric to become a spiral band along the inner rim of the salad bowl, on a white background. The large sun-yellow and orange flowers with radiant royal blue petals unfold in a palette that also includes navy blue and white. Each salad bowl is decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, pattern prepared, placed and enameled by hand before firing.

At your table

In the soft light of a family lunch, on a light linen tablecloth, this oval salad bowl makes the colors spin around the table and invites guests to serve themselves. Given to newlyweds or a couple starting their home, it extends the gesture of the festive fabric: wishing happiness.
