Coffee cup and saucer, Ludo Kouin wax print – The Dice Game

A checkerboard pattern that undulates like a game board, where luck and shared games meet.

An eggplant and white checkerboard cup sits on a saucer crossed by a matching band. It is our tribute to the iconic "Jeu de dés" fabric, a reinterpretation we have named "Ludo Kouin"; in fon (Benin), "Ludo kouin" means "game of dice".

🎲 One pattern, a thousand names

A checkerboard pattern that undulates like a game board: the fabric pays tribute to ludo, a game of dice born in India in the 19th century and played by two to four players, the equivalent of our little horses. In the world of wax, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give their names to the patterns.

• Ludo kouin (Benin, fon): the game of dice, a nod to ludo, cousin of little horses.

✨ What the pattern tells

The pattern evokes games, luck, and games shared with family. To give for a moment of play or a game shared with family.

Our reinterpretation

On the porcelain, the eggplant and white checkerboard dresses the cup; the saucer receives a matching checkerboard band. This cup and its saucer are decorated to order in our workshop in Alfortville, pattern prepared, applied and enameled by hand before firing.

At your table

At break time, a soft light on a linen tablecloth and a few cups passed from hand to hand give the table the look of a game to be played. To give to those who love games and games shared with family.
