On the cup, rows of raspberry red, sun yellow, and purple ogives, like painted nails or scales, cover the entire surface; the saucer wears them as a crown. The design also includes midnight blue and white. This coffee cup and its saucer are our tribute to the iconic "Marie-Thérèse's Nails" fabric.

💅 One pattern, a thousand names

This wax print pattern has several names in popular stories. In the world of wax prints, it is the market women and those who wear the fabrics who give them their names.

• Marie-Thérèse's Nails (Ivory Coast): in French, the name refers to the wife of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny; according to popular rumor, she threatened to claw a rival.
• Suppository (Ivory Coast): in French, the other humorous nickname for these aligned ogives.

✨ What the pattern tells

Our reinterpretation

The all-over pattern covers the cup; on the saucer, it forms a ring. The colors raspberry red, sun yellow, purple, midnight blue, and white are those of the design. Each piece is decorated to order in our Alfortville workshop, with the pattern prepared, applied, and glazed by hand before firing.
